9-time All-Star MLB outfielder who was named American League Rookie of the Year in 1999 with the Kansas City Royals. He won a World Series title as a member of the Houston Astros in 2017.
He gave up playing volleyball at seventeen so that he could focus on baseball.
He became a member of the 30-30 club in 2004 after finishing the season with 38 home runs and 42 stolen bases.
He married Jessica Lugo on November 6, 1999. The couple has two daughters, Ivana and Kiara, and a son named Evan Carlos.
He finished fourth in National League MVP voting in 2006; Ryan Howard won the award.
