Political Wife
Wife of President William Howard Taft who was the First Lady of the United States from 1909 to 1913. While in the White House she arranged for the planting of the 3,020 Japanese cherry trees in the Washington Tidal Basin.
She was born into a political and artistic family and met her husband at a bobsledding party in Cincinnati.
She believed in entertainment and alcohol even though prohibition was a contested political matter during that time.
The Tafts had two sons and one daughter.
She was the wife of William H Taft.
