Actress who earned Academy Award nominations for her roles in Nixon (1995), The Crucible (1996) and The Contender (2000). She also played CIA Director Pamela Landy in the Jason Bourne film franchise. She would star in the ABC drama The Family in 2016.
While attending Eastern Illinois University, she performed in plays alongside future star actor John Malkovich. She then graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in theater. Her big screen debut came in the 1985 feature Compromising Positions.
She earned a Tony Award for her Broadway debut in a 1989 production of Burn This.
She was previously married to Peter Friedman, with whom she had a daughter named Sadie.
She co-starred with Tobey Maguire in the 1998 cult classic film Pleasantville.
