Defenseman who was taken by the Montreal Canadiens with the 9th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft before being traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in July 2017.
He began his youth hockey career in Russia MHL. He later transferred to Canada's Ontario Hockey League (OHL)'s Windsor Spitfires, who he led to the Memorial Cup championship in 2016-2017.
He became the fourth NHL rookie to score five game-winning goals in a season during his debut 2017-2018 season. He contributed on defense for Russia's gold medal-winning U-17 squad at the 2014 World U-17 Hockey Challenge.
He was born and raised in Nizhnekamsk, Russia.
He became teammates with Steven Stamkos on the Lightning.
