Textile artist who uses recycled yarns to create three-dimensional carpets and tapestries that are inspired by the Earth's coral reef ecosystem.
Her upbringing near the seaside is the inspiration of her artwork. She founded her studio in 2014 and earned a Master's degree in fashion and textiles design from Lisbon University.
She split her time between collaborating as a textile designer for an artisanal rugs factory and running her studio. Her vanessabarragao_work Instagram account has 170,000 followers.
She was born in Albufeira, in the south of Portugal.
She and Anni Albers are both known textile artists.
